How to not loose your mind whilst search for a Job

I have been at home since May now. I still struggle with the term unemployed, even though I technically have no employment at the moment. I have been looking for a new Job for a bit over two months now, and there have been good and bad times. So I thought I would share my experience with you.

Be kind to yourself
First, and most important, be kind to yourself. Take the time you need, before you dive into sending out applications. It can be quite though sometimes to deal with the neglection you may get, or even thougher facing a HR associate questioning you about your CV, motivation and so on. So be kind to yourself, in ways you can be. Threat yourself for every step you took on the way to your new Job. It is a big process, it needs courage and a lot of willpower. Be aware that many employees stay unhappy in their current positions just because they are afraid of the change. If you already are looking for a new Job, you show more self-esteem then most of them have. Appreciate yourself for it.

Know what you want
I know it sounds silly and you may have heard it a thousand times, you need to know what you want before you can start selling yourself. The most used method to use may still be the mind-board, where you can visually see your goals. It will above all help you explain why you are looking for a new job, what exactly you are looking for, what your motivation is, and in best case even outlines your strengths.

Sell yourself
One of the best tipps I ever received was not to underestimate myself. Be aware of what can you offer. See yourself as a basket of assets at a market. Companies looking for a new employee stroll by your basket and check out what`s inside. But before they make a closer approach, make sure the first impression looks welcoming, to interest them, to make them wondering what else may be hidden in the basket. Don't leave to much open, as nobody buys a basket if they don't know whats inside, but don't show anything you have to offer at first, leave some goodies to discover for later.
It might be advantious to adjust your CV for each application, to match the wording. Or at least make sure your cover letter includes the key-words for this specific application, if your CV does not.

Take your time
It may take longer then you may thing until the right Job comes along. Do not rush yourself into anything you are not sure about. If it doesn't feel right, you have the change to say no to everything. And by that I don't mean thankfully denying an offer, it starts way earlier in the process. You may still apply even if you are not sure if the Job description or the company may suit you, but do make sure to get all the answers to open questions. Be aware that you can ask whatever you want. If the supervisor is not answering your questions, you can probably expect how the collaboration will be like. Do not enter the conversations from a low position. You have a lot to offer, you do not ask for a Job, you applied because you are interest in it. You want to know more about it. Show your curiosity, prepare well of course, but never assume it is your last chance to source your dream Job.
